Bankside Update 30 October 2009

 Update 30 October 2009

All waste material removed from the site has been cleaned and disposed of to landfill.

Soil which was removed from the pit as part of the general waste was blended with lime and activated carbon following initial test analysis results which showed some contamination levels slightly exceeded landfill acceptance criteria. Further tests of the soil proved that this blending was successful and all soil from the site was then able to be removed to landfill.

With all waste now removed off-site the remediation team and the associated site infrastructure at Bankside has been demobilised.  The security fences at the site have been retained and a new security system installed.

All water used at Bankside for cleaning is being treated at an approved facility to remove any potential contamination, and once clear will be disposed of.

The requirement for any further work or ongoing monitoring of this site has yet to be notified and will be in consultation with Ecan and MfE following their full evaluation of all site testing results information and analysis.
